MOVE FORWARD focuses on What Matters Most, Medications, Movement, and Mind Health as the drivers of care for older adults. This model helps identify the core issues that should drive all decision-making and emphases wellness and strengths rather than disease or disabilities.
In addition, MOVE integrates strategies to foster and build resilience for residents and staff using an evidence-based peer support group model. These groups help to reduce anxiety, improve self-esteem, increase well-being, help people feel understood, build connections, and feel empowered. MOVE also incorporates strategies that acknowledge unconscious bias exists, brings awareness to where those biases may play a part in decision making, and helps people to feel seen and heard with education around diversity and inclusion.
